Hello, Grade 1 Families, 

Learning Outcome: I can describe how events and places can bring people together to support our community. 

BIG BRAVE!!!

Holy moly you guys! What a day! What an event! In our class alone, we had 14 students participate in the actual event with 12 students colouring their hair and 2 students shaving their heads. In Grade 1 we had 35 students participate. We also had students with lemonade stands in the community raising money. At the time of writing this post, we were at $73,859.20 raised by students at Andrew Sibbald School. I am so proud of each child and how they supported each other, demonstrated empathy toward children who are fighting cancer and are leaving many, many, many heartprints for so many kiddos and their families.

As we moved through this month, we learned about Camp Kindle and the resources they have available to children with cancer to ensure they are safe and medically covered, while having a wonderful kid experience at camp.  Special thank you to Miss Pearl for taking amazing photos of our Grade 1 Big Brave kiddos.

 Hello, Grade 1 Families, 

Learning Intention: I can identify the requirements of plants to maintain life.

As we learn about plants, the parts of a plant and what they need to survive, we have been exploring this Gizmo. It allows you to control the amount of light, nutrients and water to see how the plant will grow and change over 50 days. Check it out here. We also planted sunflower seeds on Friday and are excited to see our plants grow. As spring has sprung around Calgary, take your child out and see what plants you can find. What do you notice that is similar? What is different between the plants?
