Oct. 3 - 7, 2022

 Hello, Grade 1 families!

Learning Intention: I can identify the pattern core, up to four elements, in a cycle. I can identify a missing element in a repeating pattern.

For the past few weeks, we have focused on patterns: identifying, reproducing, and extending our patterns. We have drawn our patterns. We have made patterns with our bodies. We have made patterns with sounds. We have used manipulatives. Students have learned to identify the core of the pattern (the part that repeats) and any missing terms. We are learning to identify terms missing before the pattern begins, after the pattern and in-between terms.

There are patterns all around us. Have your child point out patterns they see at home and in nature. With patterns, we also discuss patterns in cycles such as the seasons (fall, winter, spring and summer), patterns in our days (ex: day/night), life cycles (animals and plants) and the calendar.

Reminder: Healthy Hunger Lunches have been posted. You need to order a minimum of 5 days before the lunch/snack date.
